THE NEWS
Raves For 1st Annual Duck Race

The event featured a dunk tank, live entertainment, bar, and food, and 50/50 raffle. A good time was had by all and the winning ducks crossed the finish line in good order. Winners were acknowledged.
Event Chairperson Bob Downing proudly announced that the event netted $5,780 which, will greatly augment the Mercer Lion’s donations this year. Great job Lion BOB!!

Annual Contributions Discussion
Due to increased revenues the Treasurer’s Committee is soliciting your ideas for projects funding for the remainder of this year. So far, $6,200 is committed to eight projects. Please email your suggestions to Dave Minisan(minisan@centurytel.net) by August 19, and include project name, amount requested, and a statement supporting your project. The committee will review all requests.
Wild One in Pink Spotted
Rumors were flying and traffic was snarled. No, it wasn’t the Oscars in Hollywood, but a big, long haired pink creature in heels hijacking traffic into the Lioness’ car wash! When asked what inspired such a fashion statement our own Dave Minisan replied, “gettin a hair cut tomorrow and I need to take my mind off of it”. We look forward to next years newest fashion release and hope for no wardrobe malfunctions.

BREWFEST-To kick off the NFL regular season, we will be holding this event at the Wolf’s Den, on Sunday September 13th, from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. The game starts at 7:20 p.m., and the tickets are $15.00 each. This includes beer sampling and food. We will also be having various raffles. You may be receiving some tickets with this newsletter, so please join us, or if you can’t make it, sell them to a friend that needs a good night out. We would appreciate your support for this fund raiser.
BUSY SUMMER-The Lions and Lioness Clubs put a lot of effort into the various fund raisers and community projects this summer. The Flea Market, the Pavilion, Loon Day, the Barbecue, the Spaghetti Fest, and the Highway Clean-up, is a pretty impressive list of accomplishments for a short season. A big thanks to all of you that participated.
